Bulgaria ranks fourth in tourist flow to Turkey in 2023
Over the past year, 49.2 million foreign tourists visited Turkey, an increase of 10.41 million compared to 2022. Russia led the way in terms of the number of visitors to Turkey, with Russians accounting for 12.81 million of all foreigners.
Germany ranked second in terms of tourist flow to the country with 6.19 million tourists, followed by the United Kingdom with 3.8 million, Bulgaria with 2.89 million, and Iran with 2.5 million people, according to statistics from the Republic's Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Istanbul was the most popular destination for international visitors in 2023, with over 17 million travelers (35.31 million tourists) visiting last year. It was followed by Antalya (29.91 million tourists), Edirne (9.58 million tourists), Muğla (6.76 million tourists), and Artvin (3.72 million tourists).
As reported, Turkish authorities expect to increase the tourist flow to the country to 90 million people by 2028.
